How does having a parent deployed overseas affect army families?

What help is available for the families of men and women of the Defence Force when their loved one is deployed overseas, potentially risking their lives in a warzone? It can be stressful for children and teenagers simply to have an absent parent, let alone one who could be in harm's way.
