Expert tells royal commission ‘manage and discipline model’ is failing students with a disability

An RMIT expert has called for an end to the use of suspensions and exclusions to manage the behaviour of students with disability, as well as an overhaul of the dominant discipline model.

The problem is this … “Suspension should only be considered in exceptional cases such as where the child’s safety or that of their peers is endangered,” he said.
Mr Armstrong needs to go spend time in class with the teachers who are the ones who aren’t safe. Kids are getting suspended or expelled because they disrupt others education through bad behaviour or are a physical threat to their peers and teachers.
