Struggle for equitable solutions

It is alarming to find that the Gonski report is to re-establish the battles between the major lobby groups in school funding. This outcome is inevitable and indeed appears to be one the objectives of the report. In a climate in which it is almost inevitable that state schools and the independent or private schools view any decisions as a win for one side or the other, the debate seems unlikely to focus on the changes that would greatly improve educational outcomes without spending any extra money.
