The retention focused manager – are you one?

Attracting and keeping good people in education is an ever increasing challenge – keeping and retaining the right people in rural and remote education settings – even more of a test. While working in education can be a dynamic and rewarding experience, it can also be a challenging workplace. Principals regularly report that one of the challenges of managing in the education workforce is retaining and engaging their team – and a diverse team at that. While all principals need education and support in areas such as policy, procedures and fi nance, one of the ways in which you can extend your infl uence and reach as a manager is to become a retention focussed manager (RFM).
