Revisiting VET in schools
Attempts to attract school students to some form of vocational learning have been around at least since the late 1970s, when schools often developed, usually through a lone enthusiast on the teaching staff, a range of vocationally flavoured programs.

As both a school staff member and parent of children who have tried to utilise VET courses as a purposeful part of their career path as a step into industry they wish to advance in and take up further tertiary study in, I can say their is incredible frustration with the administration of VET both for schools, but also for the students. Lack of communication, lost documentation, inconsistency and duplication of process. If TAFE want to maintain capable students in these courses, and with an interest to continue further study with them in the future, then TAFE needs a major overhaul in its administration processes and review of its teaching capability.
