Masters and minions

It's hard for anyone, from teachers through to school and system administrators, to escape the ever-insistent demand for school improvement and, yes, even revolution. Calls for changes in educational provision, management, curriculum, and pedagogy come from all corners. And, almost all recent educational policy agendas in Australia and elsewhere have reform, improvement, and professional development at their core. Education has been the ready answer to many social problems for some time now. And, anxiety about weak educational achievement, inadequate teaching and so on doesn't seem to be going away. Yet, those of us who are involved in planning, facilitating and taking on board educational change, whether individuals or groups of teachers, schools, districts, states or national agencies, face persistent and substantial challenges in making the necessary changes relating to innovation.
