Teaching is a demanding and often thankless profession. I should know, after spending roughly six years working in secondary schools in the Northern Territory. It’s not a ‘9 to 5’ job that you can leave behind at the front gate as you drive out of the school grounds. Teaching takes up the majority of your day, so it is inevitable one finds themselves completing some marking, planning or administrative duties after work or on the weekend.
