It’s time to refocus on the purposes of education

These ‘reforms’ invariably focus on single issues - pedagogy, organisational structures and processes, curriculum, teacher professional development, accountability and so on – and rarely form part of a coherent whole. The so-called ‘education revolution’ is an example of a number of disconnected strategies and policies that lack a rationale and coherence.
