‘I just want to be safe:’ LGBTIQA+ students talk about school
Young people in WA are asking for the same thing every student deserves – to learn without fear and to be treated with respect.
For many young people in Western Australia, school is meant to be a place for learning, friendships, and growth. But for many LGBTIQA+ students, it is also a place where they are constantly thinking about safety, how they dress, who they talk to, what they say, and whether being themselves might make them a target.
