EQ, commitment to public school values among new NSW teacher standards

As previously prefaced, tough new standards are being introduced in NSW for teaching graduates, who will now need a credit average in their degree to be able to apply for a job in the state's public schools.

Surely this is a discrimination issue for all those living and working beyond direct access to an ONC university? If you don’t live within driving distance of an initial teacher education provider you cannot be preferenced for securing work.
What would be the effect of saying… you’re a male, you shouldn’t work with young children! or Your efforts won’t get you work if you come from a low SES background. Australia would / should be making a fuss! Online is not invisible!
