At Musica Viva Australia, we’re passionate about fostering creativity and enriching classroom learning experiences across the country. Our education program is one of the most trusted in Australia, reaching thousands of schools and over 170,000 students each year. Through interactive live performances, digital learning resources, and curriculum-aligned workshops, we’re committed to making music education accessible, engaging, and impactful for students across the country.
Engaging Students with World-Class Shows
We are proud to offer schools a diverse selection of ensembles, each bringing unique musical and cultural insights to students across the nation. In 2024, over 55 talented musicians travelled across Australia, performing shows designed to be interactive, educational, and culturally enriching. In 2025, schools can choose from 13 unique shows including audience favourites Music in My Suitcase, Moon Radio Hour, and Wyniss.
We’re also thrilled to introduce two new ensembles: El Camino and Music of the World. El Camino takes students on a musical journey through Latin American sounds, blending traditional and contemporary elements to create an immersive experience that celebrates the rich diversity of Latin music. Meanwhile, Music of the World invites students to explore a global spectrum of musical traditions, showcasing instruments and melodies from Ireland, America, Italy, Eastern Europe and beyond. Both ensembles align with our commitment to offering experiences that broaden students' cultural awareness while inspiring a love for music.
Accessible Programs for Every Budget and Location
With affordability and accessibility at the forefront, we strive to bring high-quality music education to schools of all sizes and locations. For $10.50 per student, schools receive not only a live music performance but also access to a wealth of teaching resources designed to integrate music into everyday learning. Our Equal Music program offers financial assistance to low ICSEA and small schools, and for students facing financial or geographical barriers that would otherwise prohibit them from participating.
Supported by Professional Development
Musica Viva Australia understands the importance of supporting teachers with the skills and confidence to bring music into the classroom. Our Professional Development (PD) program offers face-to-face workshops and online webinars, enabling teachers nationwide to strengthen their approach to music education. Whether a generalist teacher or a music specialist, our PD workshops align with both national and state curricula as well as the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers.
In these interactive sessions, participants learn directly from experienced music educators, gaining practical strategies to teach music creatively and effectively. Our free webinars, available throughout the year, provide valuable insights into each ensemble program and the accompanying teaching resources. Teachers even have the chance to meet some of the musicians from the booked shows, gaining first-hand knowledge on integrating the performance into their teaching.
Innovative Resources Through Our Digital Learning Platform
Booking a Musica Viva Australia performance unlocks access to our comprehensive Digital Learning Platform, a unique tool filled with resources designed to maximize student engagement and reinforce curriculum objectives. These resources are crafted with input from specialist music educators, ensuring they are both relevant and adaptable across all classroom settings.
Our platform provides lesson plans aligned with the live in-school performances, instructional videos, and interactive activities suitable for students up to Year 8.
