ABC publishes ‘secret’ data on low ATAR scores in teaching degrees

Industry leaders have called for caps on places in teaching degrees, following an ABC report that universities are offering places to students who leave schools with ATAR scores close to zero.

  1. There has been a steady decline in the quality and ‘intelligence’ of teachers entering the profession for the last twenty years or so. Obviously it is of benefit for Universities and Schools to push unsuitable students through the system using such courses as UPC to propel students into universities when they are completely unprepared and set up for failure or drop out.
