Lovely to see Melb uni academics throw their weight behind some of the most obvious outcomes of research anyone can remember, ie the impact of SES on educational outcomes……..one wonders then why Melb Uni is supporting the fed govts move to deregulate uni fees further, making the outcomes for low ses families even more dire with regard to accessing higher education. There is no evidence of social justice in the actions of Melb uni and any other uni that is supporting the raising of uni fees. I acknowledge private unis taking whatever stance they wish, but institutions set up by public funds, and the tax dollars of our parents and grandparents should be beholding to the needs of the entire community.
