Police made 882 arrests in New York City public schools last year, according to a civil liberties group, which said its findings put a spotlight on an overly aggressive school security system.

Black people and Latinos made up 95 per cent of arrests, the group said. Seventy-four per cent of those arrested were male, said the Department of Education.
