Over the last 18 years, Australian research in schools, in particular the Secondary Schooling and Sexual Health (SSASH) studies have consistently revealed that around 10 per cent of young Australians are sexually attracted to people of their own sex or unsure about their sexual attraction. This figure remains fairly constant over a range of studies with many thousands of young people in rural and urban areas, in every state and territory and from a range of ethnic backgrounds.
