When Queensland’s education minister Geoff Wilson opened the “green” Peregian Springs State School earlier this year he trumpeted the fact that it had been awarded a four-star rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. He also announced that each classroom had electronic whiteboards, wireless internet and used iMacs.
