Mid-career teachers do more than just plug workforce
Attracting career changers may help address supply, but it does not answer the deeper question of whether teaching is a profession people can stay in.
When I switched careers to become a secondary Mathematics and Science teacher, I knew it would be challenging, but I underestimated just how much of a professional identity shift it would be.
