Union rejects $9.6 million teacher supply plans

  1. There is no real value in the two year training for a graduate as the best training for teaching is ‘on the job’ with an experienced mentor. Teaching is a practical art and is best taught by an apprenticeship model. All the child psychology theory is largely useless. Better to have a course on pedagogy informed by neuroscience, and solid training is curriculum writing, lesson planning, and effective assessment. The skills of classroom management are best taught in a classroom with a coach/mentor.
