Fulfilling the mission

Catholic schools in Australia have always been conscious of their mandate towards those who are disadvantaged. At a time when Mary MacKillop’s commitment to educating the poor has been drawn to public attention, the leaders of Catholic systemic schools (locally-based comprehensive primary and secondary schools run by each diocese) are challenged by the gap between ideal and reality of this mandate, especially with regards to children from low income families.
