HP launches $500,000 Kids Fund grant program

Did you know? 65 per cent of students will be employed in jobs that are not yet created?

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) skilled jobs grew at about 1.5 times the rate of other jobs. A report by the Regional Australia Institute and NBN has also found that one in two Australians will need skills in programming, software development and building digital technology to remain competitive in the coming years.

It is crucial that schools in Australia are well equipped to transition classroom learning into the future.

Recognising equal access to technology in the classroom as a prominent issue, HP has recently launched HP Kids Fund, where every school teacher and principal across Australia is eligible and invited to apply for this grant program.

HP Kids Fund runs four intakes throughout the year, and we are offering a total of fifty grants of $10,000 to be used towards the purchase of HP technology to take your classroom learning to the next level.

Applications for the first intake are now open until 5^th February 2018.

HP Kids Fund is also proudly supported by Code Camp, recently awarded by Deloitte Tech Fast 50 2017 for the “Rising Star award”, Code Camp has taught 27,000 students in over 100 locations across Australia the importance of coding.

According to Hayley Markham from Code Camp, “During 3-4 days program, kids will learn computational thinking, problem solving and logic in a fun, creative way.” “They can then share the app (once it’s finished) with their friends and family.”

Every applicant for the HP Kids Fund program will also receive a 6 months complimentary access to Code Camp World, an e-learning platform teaching kids how to code.

Runner-ups will also receive a session with Code Camp, teaching kids how to code in-class.

HP hopes to inspire Australian educators to incorporate not only standard technologies such as laptops into schools, but to make innovative and exciting technology a part of the learning process.
