When Queensland's education minister Geoff Wilson opened the "green" Peregian Springs State School earlier this year he trumpeted the fact that it had been awarded a four-star rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. He also announced that each classroom had electronic whiteboards, wireless internet and used iMacs. What he didn't announce was that the school did not have an environmental policy associated with the use of its technology, nor does it plan to have one any time soon.
